A small group of serious builders. Monthly sessions.
Real conversations about how your business actually works. No theory. No seminar.
The room you’ve been looking for.
The Newmark Academy Mastermind is a small group of residential builders — up to eight of you — who meet monthly for ten sessions across the year.
Each session, one member takes the hot seat and brings a real operational topic from their business. The rest of the group brings their own experience on the same topic. The conversation is direct, specific, and confidential.
You leave each session with a clearer picture of how other experienced builders are solving the same problems you are — and a clearer picture of where you stand.
“The trouble is, it can get very quiet at the top. The decisions don’t get smaller as the business grows — they get bigger.”
Mark Newman
You’re established. Capable. Running a residential business with a team behind you, five to ten years or more in.
The market is tighter than it was. You’re watching tenders carefully, watching your margins, working out which jobs are worth pursuing and which aren’t.
You make most of the significant calls alone — because there’s no one around you who has done exactly what you do.
You’re not looking for someone to tell you how to run a building business. You’re looking for a room full of people who already do.
Builders with 5–10+ years of experience
You have the fundamentals handled. This program is about the next level of clarity.
Running a team-based business
You’re not a sole operator. You have staff, subcontractors, and the complexity that comes with them.
Residential specialist
Custom homes, high-end residential, architectural projects. This is your market.
Prepared to be candid
The room only works if everyone brings the real stuff. Numbers, problems, decisions you’d make differently.
Each session, one rostered member presents a real operational topic from their own business — actual numbers, actual processes, real decisions. Not polished presentations. The real stuff.
The rest of the group comes prepared to contribute from their own experience on the same topic. Mark acts as host and curator — keeping the conversation on track, drawing connections, adding where it counts — all in the moment.
Membership is governed by a signed Member Agreement and Group Charter, agreed at Session 1. Members agree to keep all discussions confidential, creating a trusted environment where candid conversations can take place. That trust is what makes the experience valuable.
Knowing where you stand against other serious builders. Know you’re on the right track, or where there are opportunities for improvement.
Better approaches you haven’t seen, because someone else has already lived it.
Commitments made in front of peers who will follow them up next month. The things you know you should do but keep deferring, actually get done.
A small, tight group of builders you actually trust — people you can call when something comes up that can’t wait until next month.
Mark Newman started as an apprentice carpenter and spent a decade on the tools before moving into project management. He followed that with five years in the commercial sector, university study, and stints working in Canada and England.
In 2009, he founded Newmark Constructions, building award-winning, high-end custom architectural homes across Sydney. Underpinning this success are the rigorous operational systems and processes Mark designed to keep every project moving with absolute precision. He was named the NSW and National MBA Young Builder of the Year in 2018 and was a Master Builder of the Year finalist in 2024.
Since 2023, Mark has been part of a mastermind cohort of Sydney builders whose collective experience directly shaped this latest venture. The Newmark Academy formalises this exact dynamic: bringing serious operators together where honest conversation drives better construction businesses.
