Mastermind Program for Residential Builders

A small group of serious Sydney builders. Monthly sessions. Real conversations about how your business actually works. No theory. No seminar. The room you’ve been looking for.

01 — The Program

Not a course.
Not a seminar.
Not a networking event.

The Newmark Academy Mastermind is a small group of residential builders — six to eight of you — who meet monthly for ten sessions across the year.

Each session, one member takes the hot seat and brings a real operational topic from their business. The rest of the group brings their own experience on the same topic. The conversation is direct, specific, and confidential.

You leave each session with a clearer picture of how other experienced builders are solving the same problems you are — and a clearer picture of where you stand.

"The trouble is, it can get very quiet at the top. The decisions don't get smaller as the business grows — they get bigger."

02 — Who It's For

Builders who have run out of good peers to test their thinking against.

You’re established. Capable. Running a residential business with a team behind you, ten or more years in.

The market is tighter than it was. You’re watching tenders carefully, watching your margins, working out which jobs are worth pursuing and which aren’t.

You make most of the significant calls alone — because there’s no one around you who has done exactly what you do.

You’re not looking for someone to tell you how to run a building business. You’re looking for a room full of people who already do.

01
Ten or more years in the industry
You have the fundamentals handled. This program is about the next level of clarity.
02
Running a team-based business
You’re not a sole operator. You have staff, subcontractors, and the complexity that comes with them.
03
Residential specialist
Custom homes, high-end residential, architectural projects. This is your market.
04
Prepared to be candid
The room only works if everyone brings the real stuff. Numbers, problems, decisions you’d make differently.

03 — How It Works

Ten sessions. One
year. One group.

One group.

Session Format

The Hot Seat

Each session, one rostered member presents a real operational topic from their own business — actual numbers, actual processes, real decisions. Not polished presentations. The real stuff.

Group Dynamic

Peer Contribution

The rest of the group comes prepared to contribute from their own experience on the same topic. Mark acts as host and curator — keeping the conversation on track, drawing connections, adding where it counts.

governance

Confidentiality

Membership is governed by a signed Member Agreement and Group Charter, agreed at Session 1. What’s said in the room stays in the room. That candour is what makes it valuable.

05 — What You'll Get

Four things members describe, consistently.

validation

Knowing where you stand against other serious builders — that you’re on the right track, or knowing specifically where you’re not.

ideas

Better approaches you haven’t seen because you’ve been working inside your own business. How others handle the same problems, often very differently.

Accountability

Commitments made in front of peers who will ask about them next month. The things you know you should do but keep deferring actually get done.

Network

A small, tight group of builders you actually trust — people you can call when something comes up that can’t wait until next month.

06 — Mark Newman

Built from experience. Run by someone who still does it.

Mark Newman started as an apprentice carpenter and spent ten years on the tools before moving into management and studying at university. He founded Newmark Constructions in 2009 and has spent the years since building award-winning, high-end custom architectural homes across Sydney.

He has been a volunteer with the Master Builders Association for many years, and has run an informal mastermind group of Sydney builders since 2023 — the same group whose experience, curriculum ideas, and honest feedback shaped the structure of the Academy.

The Newmark Academy is the formalisation of what he has been doing informally: bringing serious builders together in a room where honest conversation leads to better businesses.
